As with many artists, I began drawing at an early age. I taught myself to draw people from comic books and loved making my own stories in comic form. Not able to attend an art school after high school graduation, but while in college taking nursing courses, I took every art class I could find as an elective.
When the Wallkill River Center for the Arts in the Hudson Valley offered a watercolor class many years later, I was hooked! I always loved watercolors. And what a teacher I had to encourage me but Janet Campbell. She gently coaxed me to join a watercolor association and to show my work. From there I attended workshops and classes with Pat Morgan and Janet, Lana Privitera, Dorrie Rifkin, Mim Mills, Joel Popadics and Robert O'Brien. I've since branched out into taking pastel classes with Gayle Clark Fedigan, and recently with Shawn Del Joyce.
As a member of the North East Watercolor Society, I won an Excellence Award in the Member Show in 2020. I had my first solo show as an Emerging Artist at the Wallkill River School for the Arts in 2015 where I am a member of the senior group. I am also a member of the Middletown Art Group. And I will always be a student of the Arts. It took many years for me to be able to tap into my creative self. And for the rest of my years, I plan to do just that!
